ZF Aftermarket has introduced ZF Health Check. It is a digital monitor for the EcoLife gearbox that acts as a next-generation aftermarket service for those transmissions.

Digital connectivity via the ZF Bus Connect fleet management platform and remote vehicle data access are utilised to generate actionable service-related insights. That includes individualised maintenance plans tailored to the condition of the gearbox and remote fault diagnosis to maximise uptime.

The product uses numerous sensor data registered by the EcoLife during operation. That can include engine speed, gear step, and oil pressure and temperature.

Such data is frequently transferred to what the supplier describes as an advanced analytics service in the cloud, where the individual service insights are determined. Those then result in recommendations for action for the operator or service provider.

Cited by ZF Aftermarket as examples of the system's benefits are the ability to maximise oil life, and early warning of impending breakdown. In the latter case, failures seldom occur suddenly but can be anticipated, such as via changes to oil pressure or temperature. Intervening for repair then is more cost-effective.

Adds Head of ZF Aftermarket Philippe Colpron: "With our ZF Health Check offering, leveraging remote vehicle data access and predictive analytics, we can now accompany our fleet customers one step further towards zero downtime and paving the way for a sustainable aftermarket."

ZF Health Check is available immediately to users of the ZF Bus Connect Premium fleet telematics solution. ZF is currently planning the integration of additional components into Health Check.
